“Murder On The Orient Express”- Trailer Review

Stop me if you’ve heard this one.

A train moving through snowy mountains. A cabin filled with suspicious guests. A murder that could have been committed by any of them. Last and certainly not least, a Belgian detective with a glorious moustache that aims to solve the mystery.

If you thought about the 1934 Agatha Christie novel, then I give you props on all that book-reading you’ve done! If you thought about the 1974 Sidney Lumet film, then you’re still a step ahead of me, so nicely done.

November 10, 2017 will bring us another imagining of the most famous Hercule Poirot story, and here is the very first trailer for the upcoming film.

Look not to the nighttime sky, for all the stars shall be found in Murder On The Orient Express.

Just in case you didn’t watch the trailer for some reason (please go back and watch it real quick), here’s what the cast looks like. First, the Academy Award winners: Penelope Cruz and Judi Dench. Then, the Academy Award nominees: Michelle Pfeiffer, Willem Dafoe, and Johnny Depp. After that, the people who are still great but not as acclaimed in the film world yet: Daisy Ridley, Leslie Odom Jr., Josh Gad, and Derek Jacobi. Finally, add director and star Kenneth Branagh into the mix and baby, you got a stew going.

In the past, we have discussed how unfortunate it is that so many trailers tend to give away precious third act moments in two-minute long advertisements. To see this promotional piece show hardly anything past the instigation of the entire story is beyond refreshing. I don’t need to see anything further. All I need to know is that one of these very famous actors killed someone and the goal is to solve that mystery, and I am as on board as I could be. Since I haven’t read the book or seen any previous adaptation of it, I’m in a great spot of not knowing the identity of the killer. I shall not be viewing any more material released on this film, and you might want to avoid it yourself to be safe.

What did you think of this first trailer? Are you already preparing to see the film this November? Please let us know in the comments section down below!
